About Y Bwthyn

Y Bwthyn is a delightful romantic cottage converted from an old cattle shed, it enjoys an enviable position only 400 yards above the sandy cove of Cwm yr Eglwys. Y Bwthyn offers panoramic sea views which stretch from Dinas Island to Newport Sands beach. Steps lead up from the large, shared lawn to your own decked patio with the most breathtaking views - the perfect spot to enjoy an alfresco meal and watch the sunset over the bay and the stars at night. The decked patio leads straight into the well-appointed cosy open plan living space, comfortably furnished throughout in a mix of modern contemporary and antique pieces in warm vibrant colours, while the welcoming bedroom is a cool relaxing retreat. Enjoy your breakfast sitting in the window and soak up the sea views.

Join the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path on your doorstep and wander to Aberfforest Bay or why not explore the circular route round Dinas Island, or just relax down on the sand at Cwm yr Eglwys below you. The bustling town of Newport with its restaurants, pubs and shops is only a short drive away. A wonderful romantic retreat to recharge your batteries and once discovered you will not want to leave.

Access Statement

This Access Statement has been prepared by the owner for your information; it is the most recent version that we have received. This statement has been prepared as objectively as possible, however with such a wide remit oversights may be made.

Please ensure all crucial requirements for a safe and enjoyable holiday are present so if you have any queries whatsoever, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01437 767600.

The front door into the cottage has a very small step into the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner which is all on 1 level with a table and chairs, sofa and kitchen area with standard height worktops. The 2 windows at the front give plenty of light and look out over the sea. There is a wall mounted TV in this room. The property is reached from the main A coast road via a narrow road with passing places. The property is ¾ of a mile from the main road where there is a regular bus service. The entrance to the property is through double metal gates on to a large gravel parking area where there is room for several cars, as well as boat trailers to park. The approach to Y Bwthyn is along a short grass track. A car can be taken along this track from the main parking area and can be parked near the steps which lead up to the cottage. HOWEVER this is not advisable in wet weather due to the potential of cars getting stuck in the grass, please then park in the main car park area. 7 wooden steps take you up to the small fenced decking area in front of Y Bwthyn. This area looks over a flat grass lawn area which is for visitors to use. The bedroom is reached through a short corridor and up an 8 and a half inch step. The bedroom is on 1 level with a double bed, cupboard and chest of drawers and bedside tables with 2 touch lamps, which are activated by touching them. The shower room leads straight off the bedroom, without a step. There is a good size shower with a sliding glass door cubicle. There is a small step into this. There is a basin with mirror, light and shaving point above and a standard wc. If Y Bwthyn is let in conjunction with Perci Penrhiw Bach the adjoining property's main access from the gravel parking area can be up a concrete slope and across a concrete veranda which then leads through a small wooden gate measuring 28.5” wide on to the decking area in front of Y Bwthyn avoiding the 7 wooden steps. If Y Bwthyn is let with the adjoining property Perci Penrhiw Bach the internal double insulated white panelled door near the bathroom in Perci Penrhiw Bach can be removed and the 2nd door to Y Bwthyn can be unlocked allowing access to this property down a small step. The double door and insulation would be completely removed in the 2 properties if they are let together. There would just be an ordinary door between the 2.

Well, what a lovely holiday. The people, the scenery, the cottage and even the weather! We have had such a lovely time exploring this part of Pembrokeshire. I can't wait to come back. Thank you for providing such a lovely location base for our explorations. PS Walks to/from Strumble Head are a must.

Philip & Rebecca Webb

We have just had a marvellous week here relaxing and recuperating after a hectic few months in London. We will definitely be coming back! We loved this place, the decor, the bed, the walks - everything - just what you need to get away from things! Despite spots of rain, we made the best of it and had a fab time. I only picked this place because of the decor and it certainly didn't disappoint. Manorbier castle, Pembroke castle, St Davids cathedral, Poppit sands, Newport sands and Cardigan - we did as much as we could and loved it! Hope to be back in Summer climes.

Helen Edwards

Just reading previous comments makes us so proud to be Welsh, despite only living in Camarthenshire, the neighbouring County! We have managed to recharge out batteries in this wonderful part of North Pembrokeshire, Cwm yr Eglwys. What a perfect tranquil view to wake up to, breakfast on the decking in fresh air. Y Bwthyn is homely & so comfy for 2 people.

The Randles

It goes without saying that the views surrounding the property are amongst the finest around, you'll already be aware. A walk around Dinas Head is a must see with a stop at the Old Sailors, Pwllgwaelod - a good resting point before returning along the much flatter and faster valley path. Whilst here, we have visited Cardigan & Tenby, both have a plentiful supply of boutiques abd 'rummage' shops. Tenby has a lovely cafe overlooking the beach, 'Cafe Vista', which does an excellent coffee and cake. Discovered a frozen food takeaway menu in Newport, just ask at the Wholefood Shop. Lucy our dog has made friends with the ponies and the sheep- quite a feat given that she's a border collie. Lovely hosts, have had a relaxing time.

Hayley & Roger Clapham

Thank you for a relaxing week - no noise....wonderful! We were able to sleep in every morning. Good places to eat in Newport (would recommend booking as everywhere full for dinner). A great walk from here to Fishguard along the coastal path - but get there before 2.30 as everything stops serving lunch thereafter! Hunt out the local brewery & cheese makers... both delicious! We also loved the ponies!

Tina & Paul Strode

We had a very enjoyable week. The view was amazing and the accommodation is lovely. We recommend going to see Cilgerran Castle as the views are stunning. If you bring a dog, the Golden Lion is dog-friendly and the food is fab! The owners are excellent hosts and if you have any questions they are more than happy to help. Even when it poured with rain, we have really enjoyed our week.

Bob & Lin Pardoe

A very restful week in a truly beautiful setting . The accommodation was wonderful and the view just absolutely stunning - especially when the sun shone. The area in general (this is our first visit to Pembs) was very nice with lots of places of interest and lots of little lanes to explore. Wonderful!!

Alison & Simon Boniface

Wonderful week spent in a fabulous cottage in a lovely setting. Weather has been amazing, sunshine all the way apart from one day, who needs 'abroad'? We used the 'Food Trail Guide' one morning to get more unusual places - Caws Cenarth(cheese) and Wendy Brandon(preserves)are both excellent. The Morawelon at Newport Parrog waterfront is excellent for food. Beaches at Newport Sands, Whitesands, Poppit and just down the lane, Cwm yr Eglwys, were all tested and approved!.
