Barley Saturday

Experience a little of Cardigan's history

Each year on the last Saturday in April, the historical town of Cardigan is taken over by an annual Barley Saturday celebration.

Taking place right in the centre of the town, Barley Saturday consists mainly of a parade throughout the town. The road closes to vehicles whilst a parade of beautiful local horses, vintage cars, tractors and motorcycles pass through Cardigan.

Along with a parade, Cardigan's Barley Saturday celebrations also involve competitions with the local horses being judged.

The event has been running each year since the 19th Century with farmers historically visiting the town in search of workers and working horses.
